Set of 4 Japanese "Hira-Makie" Bowls (one cracked) c.a. 1900 - 1940 Traditionally, bowls are lathe-turned of Paulownia wood, with ultra-thin walls being the mark of a skilled craftsman Urushi Lacquer (a polymer discovered in Asia over 2,000 years ago) is applied, and metal flakes/dust are integrated into wet urushi about 4 3/4" diameter Sold	:
