Wyoming Nephrite Jade with included Quartz crystals The prevailing opinion is that during its formation, the Nephrite Jade filled a pocket already occupied by Quartz crystals. The Quartz was encapsulated by the Jade, leaving hexagonal, light-transmitting, windows. This stone is cut en-cabochon on both sides, and would make a great candidate for a spin-bail type pendant. Approximate dimensions: 35x25x7mm SP-1011 $172 |

Mastodon Tooth Fragment Polished for Jewelry One of our favorite collecting sites periodically yields Mastodon tooth fragments. The fragments are always limited to well-preserved pieces of enamel. Once, on a whim, I tried to polish one of these, and found that they are quite hard, take an excellent polish, and reveal some of the original tooth structure. The back is concave, and in as-found condition. Approximate dimensions: 27x16x7mm SP-1009 $29 |

Once, on a whim, I tried to polish one of these, and found that they are quite hard, take an excellent polish, and reveal some of the original tooth structure. The back is concave, and in as-found condition. The polished surface has some small pitting, due to my decision not to grind any deeper. Approximate dimensions: 34x26x11mm SP-1007 Sold |

Natural Carnelian Free-form Cab Color-treating of Agate to deliver rich red Carnelian has become very common. This particular piece is untreated, and came from a natural, hollow, nodule. The color is as-it-came-out-of-the-ground...a red/orange/brown. Because the nodule was hollow, the interior had a bumpy, almost-Drusy surface. I retained both this surface, and the original exterior surface. So, the back is somewhat rough and convex. Approximate dimensions: 33x23x9mm SP-1006 $38 |

Red Tiger-Eye Free-form Cab With very, very few exceptions, Red Tiger-eye is the result of heat-treating gold Tiger-eye. This stone was also heat-treated, and cut on the diagonal, so the flash runs across the stone as it moves in the light. The back is unpolished Approximate dimensions: 31x20x7mm SP-1003 $25 |

Red Tiger-Eye Free-form Cab With very, very few exceptions, Red Tiger-eye is the result of heat-treating gold Tiger-eye. This stone was also heat-treated. When we found this piece, it had apparently broken from a larger chunk of rough. Only the top has been polished, with sides and back left natural, with normally 'curvy' surfaces typical for Tiger-eye Approximate dimensions: 30x13x9mm SP-1004 $19 |

Texas Fossilized Cycad The cycads are thought to be the first plants to produce flowers and seeds. Although related to conifers (eg. Pine), they looked like Palms. The patterns in this material are quite nice. The flat back is unpolished. Approximate dimensions: 32x27x6mm SP-1010 $29 |
| Willow Creek Jasper Teardrop Cab Mined in Idaho, Willow Creek Jasper is considered one of the "porcelain" Jaspers. It takes an awesome polish, and displays (usually) very subtle patterns. The color in this cab is slightly darker in-person, and the pattern more evident. Approximate dimensions: 40x30x5mm SP-1001 $29 |

Willow Creek Jasper Free-form Cab Mined in Idaho, Willow Creek Jasper is considered one of the "porcelain" Jaspers. It takes an awesome polish, and displays (usually) very subtle patterns. The color in this cab is slightly darker in-person, and the pattern more evident. The darker area at the bottom of the photo is a natural (unpolished) surface of the original stone...left in-place because I liked it. ;-) Approximate dimensions: 24x23x5mm SP-1001 $29 |

The color in this cab is slightly darker in-person, and the pattern more evident. At the bottom are several small natural voids that I felt added to the character of the piece. Lazurite Crystal in fine-grained Quartzite This material came from Graves Mtn, Ga. And, most of what we were able to obtain contained only small crystals (about 1/8"). This was one of the larger crystals, and we tried to shape the outline of Quartzite to parallel the crystal faces (simulating Intarsia). The polished faces are essentially flat. Approximate dimensions: 15x14x6mm SP-1016 $29 |
